Visit to Larissa's Fishroom!

I had a great time this last weekend hanging out with Larissa in San Jose!
Lots of breeding projects and fishy plans! :) I was able to bust out my camera and get some good shots (although I need to get a LOT better...)
Betta channoides!!
Larissa has a bunch of Betta channoides of somewhat dubious sex sometimes. They can be very difficult to sex when you have females mixed in with dominant and subordinate males!
Picture
Typical shot...impending photobomb by the grizzle DT splendens that she has in with the channoides to teach them to eat non-live food and be more friendly. The friendly part was very successful...the non-live, not so much.

Mouthbrooding bettas have such grumpy faces!

Dominant male asserting his dominion over this territory!

There was much sparring over camera rights!

Take that!

And that!

A Perfect Storm of Fry
One of the largest spawns I've ever seen - Larissa has them split into small, medium, and large, all in different grow out tanks. They are amazingly consistent for being a DTxDT cross from two completely different lines.

This guy was one of the photobombers in with some channoides lol

Little girl I liked a lot :) Well...might stay a girl. Still in the growout tank!

Another female in the growout I liked a lot :)
Another couple of spawns that were only a couple of days apart. Some pastels and some DTs - a little bit of everything. Larissa is currently experimenting with placing a seedling heat mat at one end of the tank, and letting the fry decide where on the heat spectrum they want to go in the tank. The fry seem to be spot on for growth so far!

Ms. Lemur is finally ok with me petting her and taking pictures of her with my clunky camera :)

Lemur moved a bit to get onto the deck - looks very comfortable :)

Enjoying a pet from her Larissa :)
