Favorite pineapple male out of the F1 spawn. BOV shortfin traditional PK male at Convention.

Nice body and fins, and impressive spread for having only a 2 ray split!

Male is from Sieg Illig

Distantly related through female from original foundation:

Spawn RY Trad 072115
Picture
Red male from Sieg Illig! Distantly related to my line, since the original female (RY Trad 112512) is from Sieg. Not quite sure how they are related - probably at least 3 generations. He reminds me of my pineapple boy - long, LONG ventrals and a long anal that comes to a single tip. Too much branching in the caudal, but nice spread. The dorsal is also nicely shaped. The body is too short, and there is quite a bit of iridescence.

I loooove this female. She is everything I want in my line. Long smooth body, beautiful deep red color, almost zero iridescence, great caudal spread with only primary branching, good anal and ventrals for a female. My only qualm is that the dorsal could be a tiny bit longer to prevent gaps between the unpaired fins.
My last several spawns of red and yellow plakats only yielded one male (who will be spawned very soon - he just needed to gain more size). All of my females had great form and color, and I was at a loss of what to do next. I even considered dropping them in favor of focusing more on the CTPKs, but I just couldn't do it. I love them too much, and so does my grandfather!

I had been eyeing this male ever since Sieg showed him at our spring CBS show (which I chaired! Phew!). He easily won the traditional PK class there. He is extremely aggressive, with many good qualities of a traditional PK. I would much prefer less branching in the caudal, but I think crossing into my line will reduce the branching pretty quickly. Sieg does not breed for traditional PKs - they just pop out of his show plakat lines every once and a while. Sieg was kind enough to let me borrow this male after convention. I bred him to one of my lovely red females, and although the spawning was a little rough on her, we managed to get a good number of eggs and fry. He is a fantastic dad! In fact, he was such a great dad that he also took care of the metallic CTPKs from next door (CTPK color 072115). The CTPK male was not taking care of the eggs, so I carefully transferred all of the embryos to the red male. He took excellent care of both spawns!

Rawr!! Extremely aggressive! Just check out that water!

I especially love that his ventrals are as long as his body!

Good daddy :)
