Spawn CTPK form 020815

The best thing about this male was definitely is ATTITUDE! He could flare for DAYS! He also has a beautiful large, smooth, and powerful body. Although his anal fin is too long, he had the most webbing reduction by far. I really like clean the primary branching looks in the caudal.

This female has better form than this picture suggests - she was just extremely difficult to photograph for some reason. Although I used her mainly because she was my last turquoise option, I was also pleased by her 180 caudal (again, not fully open here), her relatively smooth topline, and level anal. Her dorsal is quite weak, and her webbing reduction is only passable.
This spawn was the much anticipated combination of both form and color that I had been waiting for! I would probably have delayed combining the two lines for another generation or two - however, I only got two females from my last color spawn, and only males from my form spawn, so crossing between the two was my only way forward. I was anxious to see how these two very different CTPKs would combine!

The pair spawned while I was away, so I was unable to get any courting pictures. I was also very nervous about losing this spawn - I moved to a new apartment when the fry were only 2 months old and I lost a lot of them during the move. However, the ones that came through matured into some extremely beautiful individuals that combined my form AND color goals for this line!!!

A spawn full of WINNERS!

I had no idea that the female was hiding DT! I managed to get 3 beautiful CTDTs in this spawn (although there a lot of work still needs to be done on their splits and balance).
Picture
This male was extremely promising, mainly because of his gorgeous even metallic coverage and his short anal. However, he developed a tumor only weeks after this photo was taken :(

This beautiful female won Best of Variety!
Needless to say, I am extremely happy with the results of this cross. Working with two different lines with two different goals very much simplified the final spawn to bring them together. I am looking forward to working further with these fish!
