CTDT 081412

Picture
Foundation CT male by Siambellis. His very broad dorsal hinted at the possibility of DT carrier.
Picture
Marble DT female by Siamimbellis. Her nearly perfect body and beautifully straight edges on her full and even lobes really made this a stand-out female!
With this cross, I hoped to diversify the CTDT pool by using the same foundation male bred to a DT female of completely different stock than Sieg Illig's DT female. This female DT's nearly perfect form really made this an exciting cross for me. Unfortunately, the actual results from this cross were somewhat disappointing.
Picture
Best combtail female DT out of the spawn
Picture
Uneven loves and unbalanced appearance
Picture
Rounded finnage and very weak peduncle
Picture
Bumpy and uneven body/finnage
Picture
Here you can see the great difference between the two DT caudals, as well as the very slight combtail effec on the edges of the fins.
Picture
The combtail effect was very subtle, and made me question whether I would be able to retrieve the deep webbing reduction of the CT in the F2 generation.
All the offspring exhibited the marbling effect of the mother, and all also expressed red-loss. I was disappointed with the form of this spawn, but I decided to move on with the most even lobed of the four. She is the mother of spawn 011213. I was unable to perform a backcross due to the death of the foundation male, but I imported a crossray CT from Siamimbellis that I assumed might be related to my foundation male. Unfortunately, this new male did not carry DT.
