Red/yellow traditional PK spawn (RY Trad 072115)

About time I set up some spawns! I'm super pumped from convention and ready to start the next generation. Their spawn log is at Spawn RY Trad 072115.
Picture
He was extremely aggressive during spawning. Poor girl was beat up pretty bad, but we got a good sized spawn
Picture
He has a little too much iridescence and more branching than I would like in the caudal. However, I really love his body shape, dorsal, long single point anal, and very long ventral fins
I was originally going to drop the red/yellow PKs, but I just couldn't do it. I was extremely unlucky in that the last 3 spawns were all female except for one male. I am debating whether I should spawn him - I was not happy with his form for a long time, but since convention, he has blossomed!

Luckily, I was able to talk Sieg into letting me borrow this beautiful red traditional PK that has been scorching the show circuit the past year! I took him home from convention and bred him to one of my red females, and he is a wonderful father. He is distantly related since my original foundation male came from Sieg 3 generations ago.

Unfortunately this male is almost impossible to photograph because he moves so fast!
Picture
Female from Spawn 031814. I love that my fish mature slowly yet stay vital for a long time! I love the primary branching in her caudal and her deep, clean red coloration. She definitely inherited Big Mama's body ! Good little tanks from that spawn
Picture
My favorite sight - great nest filled with little tails

Funnily enough, the copper metallic CTPK male from next door was incompetent taking care of his eggs. Since this male was so good (not an egg on the floor!) I used a pipette to transfer all the embryos from the CTPK male to the red spawn. The bubblenest is full of hatching fry. Thank goodness red/yellow PKs are very different from metallic CTPKs so they will be easy to tell apart!

Very protective daddy working double time!
