Took some pics of my growing bettas tonight. Lots of exciting stuff going on!
Red and Yellow Traditional Plakats: Spawn RY Trad 040613
I'm really loving how these guys are turning out. The cross is exactly what I wanted - the entire spawn has only primary branching, while still maintaining caudal spread! Pretty excited to see these guys really mature.

Unfortunately this male has a pretty severe caudal peduncle bump, so he will be going to auction. I think it was due to some pretty severe neglect of this spawn around the 2 month mark as I was studying for my qualifying exams.
Picture
Sisters sparring :) Reds are so easy to photograph, they never stop arguing :)
Picture
I am planning to breed back one of the cambodian daughts to the sire. They have varying levels of iridescence in their caudals.
Picture
A couple of the spawn have red spotting in the fins. I really really wish I could pursue this trait, but I just don't have the space and time to do so. Sometimes you just have to realize your limitations!
Picture
Yay! Only clean yellow out of the spawn that I really love!
Picture
Just starting to color up the body. Notice the yellow lips and the small deposits of yellow on the dorsal side of the body haha
Spawn CTDT 102012
Maturing slowly but surely.
Picture
Old Dad still looking great. Can't believe he was my first ever male :)
Picture
Got some male finnage on my triband female again. Ugh.
Picture
Little CTDT is growing. Probably won't breed him, but he is a cool little dude.
Possible DT Outcrosses
These were bred by Larissa. There finnage has really filled in, and it will be a tough choice between the two!
Picture
Love the symmetry on this guy! But his caudal peduncle bump has me worried.
Picture
Love this one's body and attitude, but his caudal is just too short and uneven :/ Will have to make some tough choices down the road!
Picture
Set up tweaks
I added a purple divider between the two, so that they can acclimate to each side prior to showing them to each other. This really helped get them to flare immediately.

I was wondering, out of your Cambodian bettas, how many of them come out as the normal/wild type betta? I'm asking because I don't really have any connection to normal or wild betta breeders in my area and I was thinking about back-breeding them. Any ideas? I don't have a male currently because I wanna be able to choose the best male for the job. So far, I have one crowntail Cambodian female, one green dragonscale betta, and two pure Cambodian females. Thanks for your help!

I have a fleshy colored betta with red fins just like the one in your pictures...I bought it at Petco in a container labeling it as baby boy...when & how can I tell if it is a boy or not?...it's fins still seem awfully short compared to what I'm used to seeing on male no Bettas...now that it's a bit bigger than when I first got got it the very edge of it's tail fin looks like it has a spiky edge to it..but it's still short...
