It's SHOW TIME!

This is where I will display our show results from all the shows that I send to, as well as write show reports for the ones that I am able to attend.

Click on the button to find out how to send your own fish to the show! If you take it one step at a time, it's pretty easy!

How to send fish to a show

California Betta Society Show Fall 2013

Super fun CBS show, as usual. I was particularly looking forward to this show because I was able to apprentice with Dr. Lucas!

Setting up!

Working hard to organize over 400 fish!

Eww colored water...don't ever send you fish in colored water, or face the wrath of Nelson and Jeremy.
We had a GREAT turnout for entries, with 419 bettas total! It took a long time to organize all of them, so it was great to have some dedicated new members help in assembling/running  all over the place and around/disassembling the show.

Carlos and his wonderful wife Aurora all the way from southern California to help out!

Some beautiful show fish that I was able to photograph at about 1am the night before the show :)

BOS Female. Wish I could have gotten a better shot of her...this photo does not do her justice! Her body is PURPLE and her fins are yellow and white! Bred by Karen Mac Auley.

Gorgeous blue and yellow show HMPK male!

Judging

This show was fantastic! I was able to do my Judging Seminar III with Dr. Gene Lucas himself!
Picture
Discussing the gigantic male DT class...that one took us at least half an hour to judge O_o Thanks Minh N. for the candid photo!
Picture
Trying to figure out the variations class. Thanks again Minh!
Dr. Lucas had about a million and one stories to share about all things betta. The life he's led has got to be one of the most interesting ones (betta fish aside!) to date. He's traveled through the jungles of Borneo, been flooded out with alligators on the high tide, found some crazy species of swordfish in a volcanic crater, had bettas spawn and grow on his basement floor...AND he started the IBC amidst all of this, in a time without internet or cell phones. Wow!

My Show Results

My CTs did really well again (need more CT breeders!) Competition was stiff, and I am most proud of these two below :)
Picture
With a little more size, she pulled a 2nd in a class of 13!
Picture
Finally put him in the correct class. 2nd out of 11 in the Traditional Male PK class!

Auction and  Wrapping up

Auction was packed again, as per usual. Fish went flying by!
Picture
Lots of people!

Running an auction makes you go a little crazy...
