Albino Bettas - Do they exist?

What is so interesting to me about albinism in bettas is that albinos are often the first color morphs discovered and maintained in most captive species, like albino ball pythons, swordtails, and axolotls, but lines of albinos in bettas have yet to be maintained for long periods of time. Why albino bettas are so profoundly handicapped and fail to thrive as adults is so far unknown.
Albino bettas are a great mystery. Why are they so rare? It is generally accepted that albinism in bettas is a recessive trait, and can occasionally pop up in the same lines. What is so strange is that albino bettas generally fail to thrive once they reach adulthood, and (according to Sam T., owner and photographer of the albino DT above) have great difficulty locating food (perhaps through impaired vision and sense of smell).

Very interesting albino by Gilbert Limhengco, from his website The Bettas of Gilbert Limhengco (http://www.bubblenest.net/gilbert.html)
Some very interesting albinos below by Yagmur K. The fact that there are several in a spawn suggests that it is n inheritable trait.

Didn't somebody called "Kenjiro Tanako" actually claim that sucessfully bred bettas? Because he did state that that he bred Kilifish and Bettas for over 35 years? Because I saw a pic of the fish he breeds and they are really pretty, I would really like to ask him some questions about how do you succesfully raise albino betta as he stated that he succesfully bred them, it's hard to find and contact him these days, because I found that he sells them on AquaBid, but the guidelines state that a person to register must be 18 years old and up since they wouldn't allow us to contact him without an account. ; - ;

Hi,
I have a albino betta in a current clutch. Are you intrested in photos?
Is it in your opinion worth trying to breed on from these fish? It apears to be right impaired.
Cheers
Jeff
